Granite City Electric Launched One App With Two Programs: One for Customers, One for Its Own Sales Team

Granite City Electric launched its Tap & Go app in April 2025 with two programs: one for contractor customers, one for its own sales team. tED Magazine lists it among six 2026 Best of the Best winners for product launches.

What the article says

tED Magazine published the 2026 Best of the Best winners for product launches on September 30. Granite City Electric launched its Tap & Go app in April 2025 for electrical contractor customers across New England and the Albany, N.Y., region. It ran two programs: one that promoted adoption and use among customers, and one for its internal sales team that “tracked and published results during the nine-month initial launch phase.” The launch used in-store signage, a QR code sign-up, a customer communication campaign and sales team training. Summit Electric Supply’s industrial automation business was established in a single core market before the company took the offering wider; the judges say that launch “multiplied visibility more than 30 times.” Of Intermatic’s ABRA Smart Solutions launch, the judges say it “exceeded sales goals.” The other winners are Classic Wire & Cable, ABB Electrification and Legrand.

Why it matters at the top of the house

One of Granite City’s two programs pointed inward. The distributor treated its own reps as an audience for the launch, with training and with results that were tracked and published for nine months. The judges cite “impressive results that exceed its own targets.” The page gives no figure for those results and does not describe what the app does. What it shows is the plan: the sales force named as an audience beside the customer, and measured.
