Eaton rebuilt its marketing around five global centers of excellence. One holds eight teams aligned to buyers, from machine builders to data centers. Content Marketing Institute reports that an early pilot, aimed at machine builders, generated more than 600 qualified leads in its first nine months.
What the article says
Content Marketing Institute’s Ann Gynn reported on October 7 that Eaton’s marketing teams had been dedicated to individual product divisions and geographic regions. The company reorganized them into five global centers of excellence. One, segment content marketing and campaigns, holds eight teams focused on key markets and buyers: machine builders, buildings, industrial, data centers, utilities, residential, aerospace and vehicles. Machine building was among the first market teams to pilot the approach. Eaton worked with S&P Global Market Intelligence’s 451 Research to survey 300 machine builders, then connected about 30% of its industrial control portfolio through a single customer-focused narrative. In the first nine months the initiative generated over 600 qualified leads, and traffic to key product category pages increased four to five times without additional media spending.
Why it matters at the top of the house
Before the change, the article says, product-focused and regional teams sometimes duplicated efforts, and campaigns centered on products rather than customers’ broader challenges. The new arrangement has a cost. Regional teams no longer receive completed global campaigns to adapt; they contribute insights from customers and salespeople at the beginning of campaign development, and the structure took about a year to settle. Every result is Eaton’s own figure, from an interview with Zari Venhaus, vice president of global marketing communications at Eaton and Content Marketing Institute’s 2026 Content Marketer of the Year.
